How has being a Chemistry graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Being a Duke Chemistry graduate has definitely opened a lot of doors, not only because of the top-notch training received, but also the connections with other like-minded, driven scientists that have gone on to do great things!"

What advice would you give students in Duke's Chemistry programs?

"Work hard, read a lot, but have fun! It is an exciting time of intense learning and training, but make sure to take advantage of all the other aspects of Duke outside of the lab! When looking into your post-Duke life, make sure to keep an open mind as chemists are highly sought after for a wide array of roles, many of which are away from the bench. My training at Duke allowed me to continue as a scientist, while also working on intellectual property for a small biotech. Further, it gave me the confidence to take risks in my career, such as being the first employee of a nascent biotech!"
