How has being a Chemistry graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Being a science major from Duke University was advantageous in my applications to medical school and having more opportunities for research. I was Howard Hughes fellow after my freshman year at Duke which also helped me to advance my career in medicine and research."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Chemistry programs?

"While many may not go on to an entire career in chemistry, the skills that you learn from this major will be applicable throughout your studies in the sciences or medicine. Likewise, there are not a lot of chemistry majors, which means those who go on to pursue this degree and look for job opportunities that stem from chemistry may find that they have more options than in other crowded fields."
