Stephanie Weber, B.S. 2006

Associate Professor, McGill University – Montreal, QC Canada

2006 Major: Chemistry and Biology

How has being a Chemistry graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"I came in as a Biology major, but the classes were huge and filled with pre-med students. After the first two years, Chemistry classes were small and intimate, and I really got to know my classmates and professors. Those close interactions were fun and intellectually stimulating, leading me to pursue a second major in Chemistry."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Chemistry programs?

"Get into a research lab as soon as possible. You'll either love it and be able to spend time in an exciting, challenging, and frustrating world; or, you'll hate it, which is great to learn as you narrow down potential career paths."
