How has being a Chemistry graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?

"My second major in chemistry was always important to me because of the interest in the field that I've had since high school. The disciplined lab approach needed to excel at Duke would further my research while in medical school and allow better preparation for the benchwork and the precision needed each day."

What advice would you give students?

"Own your education. Duke offers so many different classes and majors that you can really control the direction of your education. There are ways to combine approaches in different departments and find ways to focus on what interests you between two completely separate fields, and that makes the Duke experience a unique one. There are many different pathways and trails you can take, but there are many ways to make your own path and trail; I suggest exploring those options."
