Bouchet-Note Speaker: Keisha Findley, PhD
Dr. Keisha Findley is a former Duke graduate student in the Molecular Genetics and Microbiology Department who completed her PhD in 2010 under the mentorship of Dr. Joseph Heitman. She then transitioned to the NIH as a Health Disparities Postdoctoral Fellow within the National Human Genome Research Institute. In July 2015, Dr. Findley accepted a short- term contract position as a Medical Countermeasures Policy Analyst and then moved on to a permanent federal position in November 2015 at the Food and Drug Administration as an Interdisciplinary Scientist in the Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Keynote Speaker: Valerie Ashby, PhD
Dr. Valerie Ashby became the Dean of Trinity College of Arts & Sciences at Duke University on July 1, 2015. She received her Ph.D. degree in chemistry from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill and completed her postdoctoral research at the Universitat Mainz, Germany in 1994 as a National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Fellow and NATO Postdoctoral Fellow. Asbhy comes to Duke from UNC-Chapel Hill where she chaired the Department of Chemistry from 2012-2015. As a faculty member at UNC since 2003, she held numerous leadership positions and has experience at all levels of academic administration.
