Ph.D. student Yangju Lin has reported in J. Am. Chem. Soc. a new mechanoacid that is used to report whether, where, and when potentially damaging mechanical events occur in bulk materials (read here!). The same acid might also be used for self-healing and stress-responsive polymers. Read more in a C&E News Highlight here.
