North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh, NC
Oct. 16-26, 2008
In conunction with the local chapter of the American Chemical Society, Chemistry's Dr. Ken Lyle and student volunteers have a booth for disseminating information on chemistry and performing demonstrations several times a day for the duration of the fair, Oct. 16-26, 2008. This years theme ison the statesof matter and phase changes.

National Chemistry Week
North Carolina Museum of Natural History in Raleigh in NC
Oct. 18, 2008, 10:00am-9:00pm. This year's theme is how chemistry pertains to sports, in honor of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing China.

Saturdays at the Museum of Life and Science, from 1:30-3:30pm
Opportunities every weekend for curious young (and not-so-young) minds to watch and participate in a variety of scientific demonstrations. Favorite demos include Gummi Bear Destruction, Whoosh Bottles, Chemical Sunset, Floating Bubbles. Sound intriuging? Come by this weekend!

This event is geared towards rising sophmore and juniors in high school, and each event has a different themse, starting off with the Nature of Science and the States of Matter on Seoptember 13 and Solution Chemistry on October 11. Future themese will include acd-base chemistry.

There is "alternative Energy Sources" beginning with current fuels, such as propane, butane, and hexane and moving to alchol, both methanol and ethanol, then to hydrogen, end with a showing of the Fuel Cell Car.

Duke Chemistry is happen to continue its collaboration with Meredith College, bringing entertaining and educational chemistry demos to the Raleigh area later this academic year.
E.K. Powe Elementary Friday Science Club
Fridays 9/19 to 10/24; 10/31-12/12; 1/23 to 2/27; and 3/6 to 5/1/09. 2:00-3:00pm.
Past events that fascinated the students were from a Cooking Chemistry demo, during which the demonstrator discussed and showed the chemical reactions that happen when certain substance are mixed, just as they are everyday in the kitchen.
"Kids Chemistry Camp" Duke Alumni Weekend
April 18, 2009, 2-4pm, French Family Science Center undergraduate labs
Like last year, children of alumni with parents come to the general chemistry labs to do a variety of hands-on chemistry activities. There will be 5 rooms with a different chemical theme and experiments in each one, ending with the making of liquid nitrogen ice cream.
